Ukulele Workshop
Monday, August 18, 2014 @ 6:30pm
Michigan Rock School

Ukulele is more popular now than it has ever been! The instrument is featured prominently in recent hits such as “Hey Soul Sister” by Train, and “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. Artists like Bruno Mars, Jack Johnson, Ingrid Michaelson, and Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) are also using the ukulele in their music. What’s not to love, really? The ukulele invokes images of island life, it produces a jovial tone, and it looks, well, just plain cute!

In the spirit of ukulele-mania, we’ve put together a workshop to help others explore the enjoyment of playing the ukulele like we have. So if you’ve got a ukulele but you’re not sure how to make it work for you, then we’ve got the answers! In this one-hour workshop we’ll cover all of the basic to get you strumming, playing songs, and having fun with your uke!

By the end of the workshop you will have learned the following:
• Ukulele basics like string names and parts of the instrument
• Tuning your ukulele
• Reading ukulele music
• Reading ukulele chord diagrams
• The most popular ukulele chords
• How to play 3 songs!
• **Participants will also receive a workshop packet with all of the materials covered in the workshop

Registration Fee:
$35: bring your own ukulele
$75: workshop PLUS your own ukulele to take home
