Drums

Drums are the pulse of a band, so it is essential to set a solid foundation. Drum lessons at Michigan Rock School set that foundation for beginner to advanced students. Drum instructors cover fundamentals like parts of the drum set, rudiments, coordination, basic rhythmic concepts and beats. Drum students progress to playing beats and drum fills along with their favorites songs. Genres like rock, pop, and alternative are popular, but our instructors also coach students who cross genres and also play in their school jazz band and marching band. So drum lesson material always supports students individual goals outside the studio, or within Michigan Rock School’s rock band programs.

Michigan Rock School instructors are some of the most talented musicians in the metro Detroit area, but equally important is their ability to explain sometimes-difficult musical concepts in simple to understand terms. Bringing those talents to our Downtown Milford studio and our West Oakland County students is a key element to keeping our music lesson programs fun and engaging!

Private drum lessons at Michigan Rock School are available in weekly 30-minute or 60-minute sessions, and are designed to support each students personal musical goals.

"I got into the radio business because I'm a huge music fan. But it was so frustrating that I didn't know how to play an instrument. Working with John has been a great experience. Regardless of your skill level. John sees the potential in every person to be a great player. If you are thinking about learning guitar, Michigan Rock School should be your first call"
